NSW Schools Constitutional Convention
Applications are invited to the 30TH NSW Schools Constitutional Convention

The NSW Schools Constitutional Convention is open to all NSW Year 11 students (incoming Year 12).
The convention seeks to promote understanding and informed discussion amongst young Australians about the Australian Constitution and system of government. Professor Emerita Anne Twomey of the University of Sydney is the keynote speaker. Students will also engage in small group discussions with parliamentary experts on aspects of the selected topic. At the conclusion of the day, delegates select 30 of their number to attend the National Schools Constitutional Convention.
The topic this year is ‘Limits on freedom of political expression’.
The National Schools Constitutional Convention will be held in Canberra in March 2025.
Principals are invited to nominate one Year 11 student to be considered for participation in the 2024 NSW Schools Constitutional Convention. Multiple nominations will not be accepted.
To be considered for attendance at the NSW Convention on 5 November 2024, each student must submit a statement in their own words answering the following questions.
- Describe a piece of legislation that you would like passed by the Parliament of NSW. (250 words)
- Explain clearly why you would like to attend the NSW Schools Constitutional Convention. (250 words)
